Here are a few of our Seti@Home tips and tricks designed to help you process WU (Work Unit) data faster. Try these ways to speed up the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence and help find Alien life faster!

Don't run the GUI screensaver version, run the faster CLI version instead. (Susan)

Turn off the screensaver (set to none) (Susan)

If you really have to use a screensaver then use the blank screen one (Psyonic)

If you really want to watch the Seti@Home Screensaver then at least make sure the colour depth is set to 256 colours to make it run at a better speed (Psyonic)

Turn off the 'hard drive power down' in the power management (Susan)

Use a caching program like SetiDriver to cache work units (Susan)

Try to cache about 1 weeks WU's, thats normally plenty to handle any server problems Seti have, without sending back units that are too old (Psyonic)

Turn off anti-virus and firewalls whilst *not* connected to the internet, and use TaskInfo close down any associated files (Susan)

Don't do anything else at the same time (Susan)

Leave it on all night (24/7) (Susan)

Using a ram drive would be quicker (Susan)

Add more RAM, Seti only uses about 16mb, but with Windows etc running its always best to have as much free memory to get ANY program running at its best / fastest (Psyonic)
