People driving too slow.

Excuse the ranting, but one thing that really winds me up is drivers who drive too slow!

If it's a 60 MPH limit then please do close to 60! The amount of people I see out and about that are 'Sunday drivers', obviously in no hurry to get anywhere, so why should they not drive at 20-30 in a 60 if that's what they want? Well some people need to get to places on time and some people like me just enjoy driving.

I was following one person recently who was doing less than 30 in a 60 mph limit and as it was completely safe to do so I did go flying past him at 60. A mile or so later there were roadworks and I had to stop and shortly before the lights went green the slow driver finally caught me up and I could see him laughing at the fact I had raced past him for nothing! What he did not understand was that I enjoyed the couple of minutes between overtaking him and getting to the roadworks as I could drive at a higher speed.

Being stuck behind somebody driving well below the speed limit is very frustrating. Some people seem to think that driving slowly makes the road a safer place, but I really do disagree with that. I wonder how many accidents have involved cars overtaking cars well below the speed limit. If you need to get to work on time or whatever then you will fight to overtake cars driving too slow and that is more likely to cause accidents than everybody driving at the speed limits in my opinion.

So next time you are out for a relaxing slow drive, please think about the poor driver behind you that might need to be driving at or close to the speed limit.

I would like to add that I am 34 years old, so not a 'boy racer' and also that I am disabled due to being run over by a real 'boy racer'.

PLEASE REMEMBER:

SPEED KILLS, you are more like to die in an accident if you are driving too fast for the situation you are in.

DRIVE AT THE CORRECT SPEED, too fast is dangerous, but so can be driving too slow, know the speed limit and stick to it.

CORNER AT A SENSIBLE SPEED and make sure you stay on your side of the road, I have seen loads of drivers not only speeding, but also cutting across into the other lane on blind bends. Remember that if you are driving at 60 and hit an oncoming car also doing 60, then its the same as hitting a brick wall at 120mph!

DRIVE SAFELY, 60 in a 60 is fine, but not on the wrong side of the road on a blind bend, use your brain, thats what its there for!

KNOW THE LIMITS, a LOT of people do not have any idea what the sign below means, it is a slightly confusing one, but you do NEED to know!

The National Speed Limit Sign

On a 'normal' road with one lane going in each direction it means the legal speed limit is 60 MPH.

On a dual carriageway or motorway the exact same sign means the legal speed limit is 70 MPH.
(Please note that on some roads with a 60 limit its not actually safe to do so, use your brain!)

Its called the national speed limit sign, the reason for no numbers telling the speed limit is so that if the national speed limit ever gets changed they do not have to replace all those signs.

KNOW YOUR LIMITS, I know there are people that cannot cope with driving at 60 or 70, thats fine, stick to roads with 30 and 40 limits. Personally I think if somebodies reactions are so slow they cannot drive at more than 30 then they should not be on the road. We had some old man of about 80 roll his car into our parked car, because he could not change gear properly, we got out and had a go and he said he had not hit our car and he really seemed to believe it. We asked him to get out and look and thats when we showed him his car was actually still touching ours!!! Drivers like that are a menace to the world and should not be on the road any more.
