Darkness by Dean Thorpe
Some say that darkness is nothing
Empty space where there is no light
I feel warmth inside that darkness
I feel safety in the night
Maybe evil lurks in the dark
Things hiding and ready to bite
Thats not what scares me in this life
Its what you do see you must fight
The darkness can wrap around you
Hide you away from others sight
Its energy flowing through me
Like lightning striking down a kite
In the dark we all are equal
There is no need for black and white
We are all the same in the dark
To me the darkness feels so right
Some people hate the dark, but I love it, I sleep best when it is totally dark, not a single trace of light.
One of my favourite things is sitting in the pitch black, listening to music really loud through my headphones.
I think there are no more things to fear in the dark, than the light, its the unknown and unseen that people seem to fear. Things do lurk out in the dark, some good, some bad, but its only the same as in the light. People hide what they are, we all wear masks and rarely let people see who we really are inside. In the dark you don't see the masks, so you don't trust people you don't know and that keeps you safe.
