Welcome to my photos of Brighton Gay Pride 2009. Sadly it was a year with some very bad weather, so I did not stay around to get many photos of the Preston Park part, mostly the seafront bit on Madeira Drive and the parade from just outside Preston Park. I just love the atmosphere down at Madeira Drive when everybody is preparing for the parade, always friendly and excited. Brighton Gay Pride is probably my favourite event to photograph, the interesting costumes, bright colours, great people and so much more. Anybody is welcome at Brighton Gay Pride, no matter if you are Gay, Bi, Lesbian, Transgender, Straight or anything in between! The day is normally a very positive one, with very little trouble (you always get a few). I have seen a few bits of behaviour that was not family friendly, but in general its all good clean fun that everybody can enjoy. If you like watching carnivals then the parade they have every year at Brighton Gay Pride is a must see, tons of floats, all amazing.

LGBT Brighton and Hove Book
A great book has been released about the Gay history of Brighton, from the 19th century to the present day. The book has been written award winning author Janet Cameron and is well worth a read. It also has some great photos, a few of which were supplied by me! Its published by Amberley Publishing and available to buy from Amazon.
