25th Hastings Half Marathon

Blue skies over Hastings in East Sussex helped make the 25th Hastings Half Marathon a great day. Since first watching the Hastings Half back in 2004 I have found it an amazing event and one that I have never missed since. The course is 13.1 miles, which is a pretty long distance in itself, but what makes the Hastings Half Marathon one of the hardest half marathon routes in the world is the course it takes, including many hills, both from steep and short to very long ones like Queensway. Almost the entire first half is up hill, making you very tired for the mostly downhill second half. Not that I have ever run it, but my wife and quite a few friends have, plus I have photographed it from many different places, so I feel I know the route very well.

Congratulations to everybody that took part.

During 2009 I spent time following a group based in Bexhill called Row4Charity who were doing various events to raise money for the Stroke Association and finally to row the Indian Ocean Rowing Race from Geraldton, Western Australia to Mauritius, which as the crow flies is 3132 nautical miles! Not only did they complete it, but they came first! They also had a team in the Hastings Half Marathon that I tried to get as many photographs of as possible.
