Sorry for the reduced amount of photos this year, the damp was really effecting my leg and because of that I had a nasty fall and hurt it even more! If anybody saw somebody in a fluorescent jacket and on crutches dragging their leg along behind them like an extra from Shaun of the dead, it was almost certainly me! 8o( I did get a nice lot of the start of the race, plus the setting up and people warming up, but I had to leave shortly after the start.

The 2008 weather was also pretty crap for photos, so sorry as well for the quality!

Despite the poor weather the atmosphere was still very good and there was definitely not a lack of runners, personally I think anybody that even attempted such a hard course on such a cold, wet and windy day deserves a medal. Congratulations to you all!

A scary sight! Thousands of people running towards me, but don't worry, I was standing on the first corner, not actually standing in the runners way (I am not that mad!) A scary sight! The cold and damp weather made some of these people look knackered when they had only done a few hundred feet at the time, only another 13 miles for them all to go! Hundreds of Half Marathon runners making their way down Sea Road from the start line, congratulations to everybody who entered and tried to complete the course. A sensible marathon runner with headphones on, 13.1 miles is a long way to go and I think I would need some good music to keep me going if I was ever able to do it. Always make sure you can be seen when running, especially if you are training at night and these jackets looked perfect, I was not even running, but was wearing one the same colour! The person in the red t-shirt probably had an important message or witty comment on his top, but did not realise that his number would have to be over it! doh! More marathon runners at the end of Sea Road, going round the corner and heading towards Bexhill Road and then into West Hill Road and the first of the many hills!. Loads more runners on the first corner of the marathon, what more can I say! Me thinks I need to make sure I take more photos from different places next year! A group of people from the Round Table who decided to do the Hastings Half Marathon while pushing / pulling a beer barrel on wheels, I wonder how many times they regretted that! Hope the lady in yellow had her number hidden under there somewhere? Just imagine getting to the end and them saying, you forgot your number, go do it again!!! Arrow FM were down there helping people to do some pre race warming up and left this subtly marked Volkswagen Beetle around as a little plug! Maybe I should do that to my car next year!
