This page contains some of my many pictures of Hever Castle that I have taken. All of these were taken as full colour photographs, but quite a few of them I have converted to black and white. I do always think that things such as castles look much better as black and white pictures. The Castle I probably spend the most time at is Bodiam (Not Bodium as a lot of other sites spell it!). These photographs were all taken on the same day in July 2005, I do hope to go back again at some time next summer to get more photos.

Hever Castle photos: A photograph of a very pretty flower covered bridge in the grounds of Hever Castle, its such a shame that you are not allowed very near it. I would have loved to have got much closer and taken more photos of it. I bet you can get some nice pictures of all those flowers up closer. |
Hever Castle photos: An interesting picture of some kind of sun dial in one of the many gardens that you will find at Hever Castle, the shaped hedges are actually huge chess pieces. |
Hever Castle photos: The first of my Hever Castle wildlife pictures that I took, this little bird was very cute, but pinched loads of my crisps! If you are into wildlife photography then its always a good idea to have some food on you for tempting birds, squirrels etc. Most animals will come close enough for great photos if you have patience, silence and some snacks to tempt them. |
Hever Castle photos: A picture of a friendly looking duck that managed to find us at the cafe and started lurking round trying to get some of our food. |
Hever Castle photos: A black and white picture of another little scavenger sitting on one on the tables outside, during our trip to the cafe for a drink. |
Hever Castle photos: A close up picture of a red rose, just one of the many beautiful roses that can be found all over the many gardens surrounding Hever Castle. |
Hever Castle photos: A picture of some of the smaller buildings behind the main castle with reflections in the moat. |
Hever Castle photos: A picture of the bridge that goes into Hever Castle, with nice reflections in the cold looking moat underneath. |
Hever Castle photos: This black and white picture of the front section of Hever Castle makes the castle look quite intimidating and a bit scary to me. |
Hever Castle photos: A photo of the front view of Hever Castle, hopefully I will go again next year when the weather is better and get some much nicer pictures. I was suprised at the size of the Castle, I had always imagined it to be much bigger, but as you can see in this picture its actually relatively small. |
Hever Castle photos: My first picture of inside Hever Castle, taken inside without the flash as I don't think you are supposed to take photos in there (oops). A lot of places do not let you take photographs due to the bright light of the flash being harmful to some old materials and paintings etc. and most people can not take indoor photos like that without a flash or tripod (I can just about, but its taken years of practice and lots of very bad photos). |
Hever Castle photos: Second picture taken inside Hever Castle, not very Castle like in my opinion! Most castles I have seen are grey and cold looking inside. Then again most of the castles round this way are ruins! I live near Battle Abbey and not that far from Hastings Castle, Pevensey Castle and Bodiam Castle. |
Hever Castle photos: A photo showing how water plays a big part at Hever, there are lakes, streams, moats and fountains virtually everywhere. This picture shows one of the fountains. |
Hever Castle photos: A photo of some of the Tudor style houses that are over behind Hever Castle, with their reflections in the moat. |
Hever Castle photos: A picture of a Rose bud starting to break through and become a beautiful Rose, like the many other Roses that are in the grounds at Hever Castle. |
Hever Castle photos: A picture of a river flowing through the grounds of Hever, not far from the Castle This photo was taken from a bridge. |
Hever Castle photos: A side view picture of Hever Castle, shows the very strange design of Hever, Castle front, almost house looking back! |
Hever Castle photos: A picture of a very short man! Actually this is a close up photo, he was only a couple of inches tall and in a highly detailed model house. |
Hever Castle photos: Another picture of one of people in the beautiful model houses, this photo is of one looking like he is playing cards. |
Hever Castle photos: Another one of my Hever wildlife photos, this time a close up picture of a friendly and cute looking little bird in this picture. |
Hever Castle photos: A picture of some very pretty pink flowers, I don't know much about flowers, so I can't tell you what they are, but they were very pretty flowers and well worth a photo. |
Hever Castle photos: A picture of a lily pad with a bright yellow flower comming up through the middle in this photo of the moat with reflections. |
Hever Castle photos: A black and white picture of a statue of a naked (except for a hat) man and a large eagle style bird on a tree stump. |
Hever Castle photos: A photograph looking through a hedged garden towards more of the hundreds of beautiful archways that seemed to be virtually everywhere. |
Hever Castle photos: A black and white photo of the beautiful area by the lake, with many statues, archways and fountains. No visit to Hever Castle would be complete without visitings this area and getting a few photographs. |
Hever Castle photos: A closer look at the statues down by the lake in this photo. Looks nice in the picture, but was even more beautiful in reality. |
Hever Castle photos: The very pretty arched open air corridors between the lake area and the main Castle area in this picture. |
Hever Castle photos: A picture of more of the many weird and wonderful things that you will find in the gardens at Hever Castle. |
Hever Castle photos: More flowers in this picture, this time some very pretty peach coloured ones in small glass vases. It was nice to find things like this for sale. I am more used to Battle Abbey and the gift shop there is more traditional style things. |
Hever Castle photos: A picture of a very strange looking Gargoyle style head on a wall in one of the gardens at Hever Castle. |
