During the Easter holidays of 2009 we spent a great day out at Marwell Wildlife in Hampshire. It was our first visit and we were very impressed. As usual I took tons of photos and these are just some of my favourite photographs of the Giraffes they had there. Giraffes are amazing animals, the first thing that you cannot fail to notice is the size, some males grow up to 18 feet tall! If you go to Marwell I would recommend going to see them (its hard to miss them!), they have a great viewing platform allowing you to get a really good view of them up close and get really nice photos of the Giraffes. I wish I lived nearer to Marwell, but I don't even live in Hampshire, so I don't know when I will be going back to Marwell Wildlife next.

The Giraffes at Marwell Wildlife seem very friendly and you can get closer to them than at any other zoo or wildlife park I have been to. |

These photographs were all taken from the viewing platform, that meant that we were looking down on the Giraffes and that makes them look quite small, but they were huge! |
We stare at the animals thinking look at those strange creatures, I bet sometimes they look back at us thinking the exact same thing! |
Giraffes seem to have very slim legs for such tall animals, Horses have thin legs, but look like they have a lot of muscle, Giraffes do not look like that. |

A close up photo of just the head of a Giraffe at Marwell, you really do get the chance to get very close to the Giraffes. |
One day I want to be as big as you! Even the smallest ones were very big, once again the angle does not really show off the size of these Giraffes. If you get the chance, go to somewhere like Marwell Wildlife and see the real things. |
Giraffes are strange looking animals, they are related to deer and cattle, but look like they have been stretched out of shape! |
I am not sure how many Giraffes they had at Marwell Wildlife, here is a group photo of just four of them, two seemed to be fully grown adults, but the other two were much smaller. |
I love the patterns on Giraffes, its great camouflage. Not that it helps them blend in with all the green at Marwell Wildlife, but if you see photos of them in their natural environment it works very well. |

A final close up head shot of another Giraffe at Marwell with another Giraffe walking past in the background. They really are amazing animals to watch and photograph. |
I hope you enjoyed seeing the Marwell Wildlife photos as much as I enjoyed taking them
Constructive comments on the pictures are always very welcome.
